Development of, and Responses to Renewable Energy RFPs

Utilities are increasingly being directed by their regulators to acquire renewable energy project output through the imposition of Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards (RPS) by legislative or regulatory mandate. In order to facilitate competition in the renewables industry and to assure their regulators and/or board of directors that the utility will be procuring the most competitive and structurally sound source of renewable energy, the issuance of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for renewable energy sources has recently dominated the marketplace for the supply of renewable energy to regulated utilities. A successful response to these comprehensive renewable energy RFPs requires in-depth knowledge of every aspect of the project, as well as the priorities and objectives of the issuing entity.
